BUYER GUIDE · ONBOARDING

Your first 90 days of SEO. Month by month.

The first three months should establish a baseline, deliver useful improvements and create a repeatable review process. This is an indicative sequence for a focused SEO programme; actual work depends on access, site condition and the agreed package.

Quick answer

In the first 90 days of SEO, month one sets the baseline and fixes technical blockers, month two improves priority pages and internal links, and month three verifies what moved and plans the next quarter. Competitive rankings usually take longer than 90 days.

The first three months of an SEO programme are mostly about foundations: understanding the business, measuring where the site stands, fixing what blocks progress and improving the pages that matter most. This guide describes what should happen in each month, what you should receive, and what you should not expect yet. It follows the working sequence Vyntra uses in the RM399 package, but the questions apply to any provider.

SampleThe business used in this guide

A fictional renovation contractor in Shah Alam with a 25-page WordPress website, a Google Business Profile, and most enquiries arriving by WhatsApp. The owner wants more kitchen and bathroom renovation jobs in Shah Alam, Klang and Subang Jaya, and fewer small repair requests.

Days 1–30: understand, measure and unblock

Week 1: the business and the access

The first conversation should be about the business, not keywords. Which services are most profitable? Which areas do you actually cover? What do good customers ask before they WhatsApp you? What do you never want to be found for? For the renovation contractor, "kitchen cabinet Shah Alam" matters far more than "fix leaking tap", even if the second has more searches.

Then access: Google Search Console, GA4, the website admin (or a contact at your web designer) and the Google Business Profile. Access problems are the most common reason the first month slips. Agree one person on your side who approves changes, and how quickly they can usually reply.

Weeks 2–3: the baseline

Record where things stand, with dates: indexed pages, clicks and impressions for non-brand searches, positions for a short list of priority queries, Core Web Vitals, and how many enquiries currently come from Google, if anyone has been counting. A crawl lists technical issues. The goal is a baseline you can compare against honestly in month three.

Week 4: fix blockers and choose priority pages

Fix what stops Google or customers: pages accidentally set to noindex, broken redirects after an old redesign, a WhatsApp button that does not work on iPhone, a contact page with the old phone number. Then agree the priority pages for month two. In the RM399 scope that is up to three existing pages a month; for our contractor, the kitchen renovation, bathroom renovation and service-area pages.

What you should have at day 30

  • A written baseline with date ranges and sources.
  • A list of confirmed issues, separated from things that need more evidence.
  • The blockers fixed and verified on the live site.
  • Agreed priority pages and target searches for month two.

If access was delayed, the report should say what remains unavailable. A review of the public site is still useful, but it must not be presented as an analysis of your Search Console or conversion data.

Days 31–60: improve the pages that matter

Month two is where most visible work happens. For each priority page, the work usually covers:

  • Titles and descriptions that match how people search, for example "Kitchen Cabinet Renovation Shah Alam | Design & Installation" instead of "Services".
  • Content gaps: what buyers need to decide. Price ranges or what affects price, materials, timeline, warranty, the areas covered and photos of real completed projects.
  • Internal links from the homepage and related pages, with descriptive anchor text.
  • A clear next step: a WhatsApp link with a useful pre-filled message, near the top and bottom of the page.
  • Local signals: Google Business Profile categories and services aligned with the pages, and consistent name, address and phone number.

Every change is proposed with its reasoning, approved by you, and checked on the live page after it goes up, so the work log records what was implemented, not only what was recommended. The owner's input matters here: the contractor knows the real price ranges and which photos they have permission to use.

Search data will start to move for some pages and not for others. It is too early to declare success or failure from a few weeks of numbers.

Days 61–90: verify, measure and plan the next quarter

Month three compares like with like: the same queries, pages and filters as the baseline, over periods of the same length. Ask concrete questions. Is Google showing the kitchen page, rather than the homepage, for kitchen searches? Have impressions for non-brand searches changed? Did WhatsApp clicks from organic visitors change? Are any technical issues back?

Some results will be inconclusive, especially on a low-traffic site. A good report says so and proposes a proportionate next step, rather than inventing an explanation. The next quarter's plan should then choose between:

  • continuing to improve existing pages, three a month;
  • creating a genuinely useful new page, such as a bathroom renovation cost guide, quoted separately if it is new content;
  • scoping a larger technical change or redesign, if the site itself is the limit;
  • putting more effort into local SEO and reviews, if most demand is local.

What the business needs to contribute

SEO is not something that can be fully outsourced. Somebody at the business has to confirm facts and prices, supply photos and project details, approve changes in reasonable time and tell the SEO team whether enquiries were suitable. It also helps to share news: a new service, a price change, a new branch in Klang, a busy season coming. Automation handles the monitoring; only the business knows these things.

A realistic time commitment for an owner is a short weekly look at approvals on WhatsApp and a monthly 30-minute review of the report.

What 90 days does not promise

Ninety days does not guarantee page-one rankings, a set amount of traffic or revenue. Competitive searches in the Klang Valley can take six months or more, depending on the market, competitors, the site's history and authority, and the quality of the work. Technical fixes are often picked up within days or weeks; content and authority take longer. Anyone promising "page one in 30 days" is either targeting searches nobody makes or taking risks with your site.

What you should expect after 90 days is a clear picture: what was done, what changed, what did not, and what the next quarter should focus on. Read the package scope alongside this guide. The system walkthrough explains the daily cycle, and the measurement methodology explains how outcomes are reported. For pricing context, see SEO pricing in Malaysia.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Should I expect results in 30 days?

You can expect an agreed process, a baseline and scoped work, subject to access and approvals. Search outcomes do not follow a 30-day deadline.

What if the site needs a rebuild?

A rebuild should be identified and scoped separately. A small monthly SEO retainer should not quietly turn into a full website project.

How much of my time does the first 90 days need?

Most in week one, for the business questions and access. After that, typically a few minutes a week to approve changes and 30 minutes a month to review the report.

What happens after day 90?

You decide the next quarter's focus from the evidence: more page improvements, new content, local SEO or a technical project. Monthly plans continue month to month.
